A backward glance at pre-war Berlin, this sensitive film records the impressionable early years of youngsters who were the unknowing victims of social change. It is an excursion into the hopes and fears of a small community struggling for existence within the uncaring complex of a big city. Two friends, Paul and Erwin, who belong to the gang of children from the backyards of the tenement No. 67, organize a party to help pay Paul's family's rent.
