LIGHT IN THE WEST rediscovers the new world of the American frontier (1850-1890) through the eyes and lenses of four extraordinary photographers who ventured west: Carleton Watkins, Eadweard Muybridge, Timothy O'Sullivan and William Henry Jackson. It chronicles the fascination with land and space and the unceasing urge to civilize that land and its inhabitants. The film recalls the spirit of adventure and experimentation in both western exploration and photography.
