"SLOW ATTACK cannot be separated from my own life," says the author and leading actor Burkhard Driest of his role as Nik Dellman, a hardened ex-convict trying to make a life for himself after eight years in prison. Nik, a generally unpleasant character with a definite rough charm, finds his former girlfriend Eva has acquired a new man and a child, so he takes refuge with a friend, Leila. He needs quiet so that he can write. But before he can settle in, along comes his prison mate Henry with a proposition for a new heist. Director Reinhard Hauff has received much critical acclaim for his films, including "Knife in the Head" (1978), "Paule Paulander" (1975, screenplay by Driest) and "The Main Actor" (1977) which appeared in last year's German Film Tour.
