Oscar-nominated director Peter Cattaneo's new featurette is a delightfully simple love story. Eighteen-year-old Sarah (Lena Headley) falls in love with twenty-one-year-old Tom (Ian Hart), and their first days together are idyllic. She's young and beautiful; he's on the drug scene, but grounded and gentle. His freinds are planning the rave to end all raves, on the last night of the millennium - 1,963 days away. There is much that is seductive in his world, and much in her own that she'd like to escape (her alcoholic mother, for a start). Gradually, as she gets to know his philosophy of life, Tom's individualism and naivete begin to conflict with her needs. Beautifully performed, thoughtfully and unpretentiously written, and delicatley directed, this is an affecting little movie. Tom's view of life-"Look around you, everybody's happy now"-makes the film very 1990's.
