Sex trafficking is a form of modern day slavery. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children says one in five runaways are likely victims of this appalling phenomenon. Norma Bastidas understands the enormity of this issue, having endured sexual violence and abuse at the hands of human traffickers. For years she bottled up her emotions, struggling with addiction. Thankfully, the story doesn’t end there—not even close. A true survivor, Bastidas got clean and broke her silence in a huge way, going public with her experience and becoming a fierce advocate for the cause. In order to raise awareness, she set out to break the Guinness World Record for longest triathlon, an intense feat that took her 3,762 miles, from Cancun, Mexico to Washington, D.C. A combination of running, swimming, and biking, the incredibly draining expedition took a severe physical toll on her body. Yet despite the pain, she soldiered on, knowing that victory could help to prevent others from suffering. BE RELENTLESS chronicles her inspiring journey to motivate the world to end exploitation.
