In the sentimental sci-fi drama REALIVE, a young man named Marc finds out he has one year left to live. The news about his cancer is understandably devastating, and he struggles to accept his mortality. Doctors suggest he try chemotherapy, but believing his fate has already been sealed, he opts for something less conventional: cryogenics. In order to assure his body is in good condition before it’s frozen, he must end his own life before the disease spreads. If successful, Marc would be the perfect candidate to be revived in the future when advancements in medical technology have made it possible to do so. It’s a decision that doesn’t sit well with the on-again, off-again love of his life Naomi. She can’t fathom a world where they won’t be together and wonders why he’d want such a thing in the first place. Regardless of her wishes, he carries on with the crazy plan. He’ll soon discover that immortality is not all it’s cracked up to be; one year surrounded by loved ones is better than eternal life alone. (In English) —E.F.
