It’s September 1942 at the height of the German military expansion in Europe. After leaving her family behind and escaping Nazi-occupied Poland, 13-year-old Sara makes her way to the Ukrainian countryside alone. Desperate for refuge after spending days in the woods, Sara searches for work in a small Ukrainian village. Although she claims to be Christian, her disheveled appearance raises suspicions among the villagers that she may be a Jew escaping persecution. But when Sara can prove she knows the Christian prayers, she is taken in by a farmer and his wife to be their new house maid. There she discovers the family’s dark secrets as she struggles to protect her own. While the war rages on and the Nazis tighten their grip on the small village, Sara must hide her true identity from everyone or face dire consequences. Based on an incredible true story, MY NAME IS SARA is an intense tale of bravery, strength, and survival. (In English, Polish, and Ukrainian with subtitles) — G.S.
