Africa’s Sahel region is on the front lines of climate change. Increasing drought and desertification have led to resource scarcity, conflict, and diaspora. Two-thirds of the landscape are now severely degraded... but not all hope is lost. In 2007, nations of the Sahel banded together to create a visionary plan of action called The Great Green Wall, a massive wall of trees across the entire continent, in an effort to restore the land and create a future for Sahel communities. If completed, it will be the largest living structure on Earth and a new world wonder. But as the effects of the changing climate continue to impact the Sahel, there is still work to be done to see this vision through. A captivating and uplifting documentary, THE GREAT GREEN WALL takes us on a journey through the Sahel with musician/activist Inna Modja as she talks with the people about hardship, resilience, and creating the African Dream.
