CIFF46 Call For Entries and Presentation Details

CLEVELAND (Monday, June 7, 2021) – The Cleveland International Film is now accepting submissions for CIFF46, which will take place March 30 – April 10, 2022. Films of any runtime, of any genre, and from any country -- with a completed production date after June 1, 2020 -- are eligible for consideration. For full information on CIFF46’s call-for-entries process, please visit clevelandfilm.org/call-for-entries.

CIFF46 will take place in person at the Festival’s new and permanent home in Playhouse Square -- the largest performing arts center outside of New York City. There will also be an online component of CIFF46, with information to be shared at a later date. For its in-person presentation, CIFF46 will follow Playhouse Square’s protocols regarding the health and safety for everyone involved. All Festival details (including dates, format, and venues) are subject to change, based on science and community circumstances in relation to the coronavirus pandemic.

CIFF46 will consist of hundreds of films, post-film conversations and Q&As with filmmakers, balloting, and awards with cash prizes for feature and short films. CIFF is proud to be one of the few festivals in the world that is Academy Award® qualifying for all three categories of short films—live action, animated, and documentary. CIFF Speaks (the Festival’s official podcast) will be celebrating filmmakers and their art with episodes surrounding and during CIFF46.

As noted by Marcie Goodman, CIFF Executive Director, “The Cleveland International Film Festival is excited to reinvent itself once again as we plan our first hybrid Festival – in person and online. CIFF continues to evolve because of the hearts and hands of our community, which unflinchingly hold us up.”

CIFF45 Streams, which took place April 7 – 20, 2021, presented 117 feature films and 182 short films from 63 countries to a national online audience of 102,432 viewers. Filmmaker cash prizes for the Festival’s esteemed 34 competitions and other awards totaled $114,500.

The Cleveland International Film Festival is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. Also, the Cleveland International Film Festival is made possible in part by state tax dollars allocated by the Ohio Legislature to the Ohio Arts Council (OAC). The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically.
