Modern society’s luxuries would sicken traditional Vikings of centuries past, and Martin won’t stand for it. Cloaked with animal pelts and a bow and arrows slung across his back, burly Martin retreats to the forest to restore his masculine connection to the outdoors, as his ancestors did. Although gas station conveniences and occasional cell phone use tempt his newfound purpose, Martin commits to his hunter/gatherer lifestyle. When Martin stumbles on Musa, a man on the run who’s been severely injured from a recent car accident, the unlikely pair team up to brave the wilderness. Enroute to a village deep in the woods, full of people allegedly living off the land, Martin and Musa must dodge the police search parties behind every rock and riverbend and attempt to escape Musa’s criminal associates who prefer he was dead. A laugh-out-loud thriller with an entertaining mix of dark wit, suspense, and violence, WILD MEN simply cannot be tied down. —A.B.
